Mood Board Design

This is part of my A2 Media coursework in which i had to complete to help me to conduct a successful horror movie trailer. I have put together 4 images which is my mood board. This represents exactly what type of movie trailer me and my partner wanted to create and set this type of scene towards our target audience. As you can see all the images i have added all set a type of scary atmosphere and will target and attract me and my partners audience to be interested in our own movie trailer. We used these type of ideas to build exactly on what we was aiming towards. These images all link in many different ways to different types of horror movies and especially the one in which we created by the end with help from designs of characters such as these shown in the mood board above.

Main Character Photos

Characters

I have chosen to analyse all 5 characters which have all appeared within my horror movie trailer. I will be explaining in more detail of the reasons why i have specifically chosen these five people with my media partner Cody McMahon. this is shown below-

Cody McMahon- firstly the reasons why we chose Cody to appear within the story of our movie trailer was for one of the main reasons and this was to make the storyline come together and to represent a jealousy image by our other character chosen, 'Mitchell Stone'. the main reasons why we chose was because he was a male figure, young and suitable for the trailer we decided to base a story upon.

Mitchell Stone- moving onto the next character, 'Mitchell Stone' we have chosen him as the main character within the movie, even though we do not see his face as a mask is covered over it we have also chosen him as its suitable with the story we have decided, hes also young which also fits, and looks the type for being a scary person within the trailer to set an effect towards the target audience we are aiming at. another reason why we chose mitchell stone as he is a reliable friend and could attend all the scheduled dates and times of when we were planning to film.

Yasmin Callen- This is our next character and we have chosen her as another character on top of the group of girls including myself which are involved within the story line of the movie trailer. she is also young, made out to look vulnerable based on her image, this links to her clothing, and the way she acts within the movie trailer. another main reason why we actually chose Yasmin Callen was because she does drama as an a level in our 6th form. therefore we thought it was suitable as she could create an extra effect on the trailer to bring more suspense and to attract the right target audience.

Lauren Carraway- this is another character we chose to put within our media trailer as she overall represents the same and most similar image to the character explained above. she also looked vulnerable due to the fact of being young and also other main reasons is because she was reliable for me and my media partner Cody McMahon to use as she was available on all the dates we were aiming and scheduling for the filming to take place. the reasons why she was reliable was because she goes to the same school and we asked both of the 2 girls which were our main characters beforehand and they both agreed.

Izel Abdullah- i will also be giving reasons of why i was chosen to be part of the media movie trailer. i was one of the main characters also which set the whole story line to make sense and to achieve the best results of attracting the right target audience. i have the same sort of image as i have described above for the other two girls. i was also reliable and could attend all the dates scheduled for filiming to take place. this is a very vital part and i was also commited which helped the trailer to be realistic and viable for the target audience to see.

Filming Schedule

Target Audience

As my film trailer is going to be a horror movie, i have looked into what the majority of my target audience will be aimed at, for the majority of horror movies the target audience are usually teenagers to adults which will enjoy and watch horror movies the most. Overall looking over which target audience is aimed at by the majority of horror movies made in the media world my target audience will also be teenagers and adults, which will enjoy these type of films. This means that i will not be aiming at young children so there will be no limitations on how scary my film will be as there will be a age limit also targeting my specific audience. To make a horror movie and a trailer it is very important for anyone to know who the majority of their target audience is going to be in order to address this to my specific target audience. Throughout the Freytag's Triangle i will be following this and at the same time it will help me to link it to my target audience which are going to be teenagers to adults.

Freytag's Triangle

Exposition

The exposition provides the background information needed to properly understand the story, such as the protagonist, the antagonist, the basic conflict, and the setting. It ends with the inciting moment, which is the incident without which there would be no story. The inciting moment sets the remainder of the story in motion beginning with the second act, the rising action. While the exposition may employ the rhetorical mode also known as exposition, the two are not perfectly synonymous.

Rising action

During rising action, the basic internal conflict is complicated by the introduction of related secondary conflicts, including various obstacles that frustrate the protagonist's attempt to reach his goal. Secondary conflicts can include adversaries of lesser importance than the story’s antagonist, who may work with the antagonist or separately, by and for themselves or actions unknown.

Climax

The third act is that of the climax, or turning point, which marks a change, for the better or the worse, in the protagonist’s affairs. If the story is a comedy, things will have gone badly for the protagonist up to this point; now, the tide, so to speak, will turn, and things will begin to go well for him or her. If the story is a tragedy, the opposite state of affairs will ensue, with things going from good to bad for the protagonist.

Falling action

During the falling action, or resolution, which is the moment of reversal after the climax, the conflict between the protagonist and the antagonist unravels, with the protagonist winning or losing against the antagonist. The falling action might contain a moment of final suspense, during which the final outcome of the conflict is in doubt.

Shooter Fan Movie Trailer

This trailer opens with an image with the Paramount trade mark sign. We then get an immediate establishing shot to clearly distinguish the location of the film. We are sent straight into a busy location that gives us a sense that we are in a busy city in America. The next few shots are cut with fast editing and we further establish that we are within a busy city.

We get a very fast series of editing that shows us mixed locations but with a lot of action, enforcing the genre of film. We get different locations in this section including a warehouse, a riverbank and busy city roads. There are also several clips showing the main character and his sidekick at war seeming to be in Iraq or Afghanistan. This further enforces action to the viewers and tells us that Mark Whalberg was a sniper in the war. All of these locations show the main character Mark Whalberg getting beat up, shit and in a constant fight for survival. But as we have seen he is a sniper. So the next section of shots, we see Mark Whalberg in his primary location fighting back. We see him in forests, on mountains and in other secretive places sniping people from a distance. This shows our main character fighting back and again enforces the genre of action. This brawl continues for a long period of the trailer and we see Mark Whalberg in his primary status. Its almost as if he has created another war by the amount of action we see and the locations we are shown.

The last location we are shown is Mark Whalberg in an orange prison suit trying to prove himself in some kind of court. He has his sniper with him that shows the court is trusting him. This trailer uses many different locations to emphasise the amount of action that the film encages.
